Barista (40-60%) - Cham

Latte Stories is a brand new specialty coffee shop, with a brunch menu inspired by cross-cultural flavours. We opened the doors to two stores in Switzerland in 2024. Our concept is dedicated to creating a home-away-from-home for our international community. We offer an inviting place for gentle adventurers and daily difference-makers to kick back and connect over good coffee, interesting food and great conversations.


We are seeking a pro-active, motivated and self-starter to join us as a Barista to support with our day-to-day operations and service. If our concept resonates with you, please read on!


Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and serve high quality coffee, using various brewing methods, including espresso, V60, cold brew, by adhering to Latte Stories recipes and standards
  • Prepare and serve other menu items, including food
  • Support kitchen staff with food preparation and service when needed
  • Provide excellent customer service, including taking orders, serving tables and clearing of tables
  • Ensure high levels of cleanliness throughout your workflow and the shop
  • Follow health and safety guidelines
  • Be a brand ambassador for Latte Stories coffee
  • Build and maintain positive relationships with the local community


What we're looking for:

  • Experience working as a barista in a coffee shop
  • Experience working with food is an advantage
  • Experience working in a demanding hospitality environment is an advantage
  • Strong sense of ownership
  • Open-minded to new ideas
  • Fluent in Swiss German and German is a must
  • Conversational in English is a must
  • Passion for coffee and commitment to delivering an excellent customer experience. 
  • Ability to work independently and under pressure
  • Availability/willingness to work on weekends is a must
  • Work permit in Switzerland

  • Prepare and serve high quality hot and cold brunch dishes adhering to Latte Stories recipes and standards, including speed of service
  • Set up, maintain and clean the kitchen throughout shift
  • Communicate regularly with the team
  • Ensure high levels of cleanliness throughout your workflow and the shop
  • Follow health and safety guidelines
  • Be a brand ambassador for Latte Stories coffee and food
  • Build and maintain positive relationships with the local community


What we're looking for:

  • Experience working in a restaurant's kitchen, breakfast cooking experience is a plus
  • Ability to work under pressure
  • Strong sense of ownership
  • Open-minded to new ideas
  • Conversational English and German
  • Passion for food and commitment to delivering excellent quality products experience. 
  • Ability to work independently 
  • Ability to work on weekends (this role is only available on weekends)

Baker (20-30%) - Cham

We make all of our cakes and cookies in-house. We are seeking a pro-active, motivated and self-starter to join us as a Baker to support with our baking and ingredients prep. If our concept resonates with you, please read on!


Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and bake large quantities of cakes, cookies and other food items occassionally (e.g. ingredients of salads and sandwiches)
  • Support FOH team when needed
  • Ensure high levels of cleanliness throughout your workflow and the shop
  • Follow health and safety guidelines


What we're looking for:

  • Experience with baking cakes and cookies is required (passionate home bakers also welcome!)
  • Strong understanding of typical baking measurements and language
  • Attention to detail

Interview process.

Marketing Internship (60-100%) - Cham or Oerlikon

Our concept is dedicated to creating a home-away-from-home for our international community. We offer an inviting place for gentle adventurers and daily difference-makers to kick back and connect over good coffee, interesting food and great conversations.


We are seeking a pro-active, motivated and self-starter to join us as a Marketing Intern to support with a wide variety of marketing efforts. If our concept resonates with you, please read on!


About the Internship:

This internship is an educational opportunity for a self-starter to work directly with the founder to develop both short and long term marketing strategies for the coffee shop brand, Latte Stories. 


We recruit marketing interns who are a fit for our company throughout the year. The internship will not lead to a permanent job opportunity at the moment, as we are prioritising giving different students relevant experience. 


  • Duration: Flexible start and end dates, but should be no less than 6 weeks in total. 
  • Workload: 40-100%
  • Location: On-site at Latte Stories (must be able to travel to both Cham & Oerlikon), with remote work as well 
  • Compensation: 1200CHF per month (pro-rated if part-time) 


Responsibilities:

You will get what you put in. We will shape the responsibilities based on areas you'd like to grow in to benefit your skills and career development. Here are examples of what you could work on:

  • Build a marketing calendar with key campaigns and promotions in the next year
  • Build campaign ideas from scratch
  • Analyse and measure results from completed campaigns
  • Research and propose local partnerships, collaborations and community outreach ideas
  • Connect with potential partners to discuss and finalise collaboration deals or ideas 
  • Support drafting our regular newsletter 
  • Support with social media calendar and content execution 


What we're looking for:

  • University students enrolled in a business or marketing program 
  • Someone who is enthusiastic to "learn by doing" 
  • A self-starter who is proactive and not afraid to ask questions 
  • Comfortable working independently and taking initiative

Store Manager / Assistant Store Manager (60-100%) - Oerlikon

We are seeking an entrepreneurial, motivated and hands-on individual to join us as a Store Manager or Assistant Store Manager to drive sales and oversee the day-to-day operations of our store. If our concept resonates with you, please read on!


Responsibilities:

  • Operational Excellence:
    • Take full ownership of day-to-day operations of the store
    • Be proactive in shaping quality and service standards to deliver excellent guest experience. Ensure adherence by the whole team to these standards. 
    • Manage inventory, ordering, and stock control.
  • Team Leadership:
    • Recruit, train, and manage a team of baristas and support staff.
    • Foster a positive and collaborative work environment.
    • Conduct regular performance evaluations and provide constructive feedback.
  • Customer Experience:
    • Ensure a high level of customer satisfaction through excellent service.
  • Financial Management:
    • Monitor and manage store budgets, expenses, and revenue.
    • Implement cost-effective measures to maximize profitability.
  • Community Engagement:
    • Build and maintain positive relationships with the local community.
    • Support with local events and partnerships to enhance the shop's presence.


Requirements:

  • Experience in a managerial role within the food, beverage or hospitality industry. Some experience managing a restaurant or cafe is advantageous. 
  • Strong sense of ownership.
  • Empathetic leadership and interpersonal skills.
  • Open-minded to new ideas.
  • Confident communication skills. Strong English and German skills are required. Swiss German is a plus. 
  • Passion for coffee and commitment to delivering an excellent customer experience. Knowledge in specialty coffee is an advantage.
  • Ability to work independently and make sound business decisions.
  • Availability/willingness to work on weekends. 
  • Driving license and car in Switzerland is an advantage.
